Bijapur: A Naxal was injured in an encounter between ultras and security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said on Monday.
The rebel was later hospitalised, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said, adding that the gunfight took place on Sunday near Chhote Sukanpalli village under Tarrem police station limits, located over 400 km from the state capital Raipur.
A team of 210th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of CRPF, was out on a search operation when the face-off took place, he said.
After the exchange of fire stopped, a Naxal, who received bullet injuries on his hand, was found at the spot, he said.
Besides, two muzzle loading guns, some explosive materials, detonators and firecrackers were also recovered from there, he said.
The injured Maoist was immediately shifted to the Bijapur district hospital and will be arrested after recovery, the official said.
