Mysuru: A Mysuru resident complained of being served with chicken biryani instead of vegetable biryani ordered by him during his journey to Mysuru in Shatabdi Express.
On Tuesday, the passenger Sumanth C V, 25. had boarded the Shatabdi Express train from Bengaluru. He had reportedly ordered for vegetable biryani but was shocked to find that non-veg food was served to him.
An upset Sumanth brought this to the notice of the official concerned in the coach, who in turn asked him to lodge a written complaint.
Sumanth expressed that the mistake was not at all acceptable. “It’s harassment and insult to the passenger and they have hurt our sentiments,” he said.
Sumanth however appreciated that a senior railway official, with whom he verbally lodged a complaint over a telephonic call had deputed a railway official to meet him at the Mysuru station to gather information. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old said that he will lodge a complaint with the consumer court on this issue.
Various consumer courts have noted in its orders that serving non-vegetarian food to vegetarian passengers amounts to deficiency in service.
Notably, a similar incident had taken place on Shatabdi Express last month. The passenger named Prashanth had however consumed the non-veg food served to him, as he was okay with having non-vegetarian.
Few netizens have raised complaints about the quality of food served and the deteriorating food service in the Shatabdi Express that commutes between Mysuru, Bengaluru and Chennai.
