Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has decided to contest from Chanmundeshwari constituency and given up Varuna constituency, which he represents since 2008. His son Dr. Yathindra to make his electoral debut and continue the family legacy from Varuna constituency. Siddaramiah’s move to compete from Chamundeshwari constituency will compel him to face the combined force of JD(S) and BJP which is hell bent on preventing his aim of returning to power again.
Siddaramiah has accepted this challenge by campaigning in Chamundeshwari constituency, whipping up sentiment and reconnecting with the people who have elected him five times. He expressed his dilemma during one of his roadshows when he told voters that the people of Varuna constituency also wanted him to contest from their constituency but he finally opted for Chamundeshwari constituency for a strong reason.
“I want to end my political career by getting elected from Chamundeshwari, since it was you people who sent me to the lower house for the first time in 1983 and also gave me political rebirth in the 2006 bypoll. This cannot happen without your support,’’ explained Siddaramiah.
