Chikkamagaluru: Police have arrested the absconding accused in connection with the case of a minor girl’s suicide in Kalasa here allegedly due to love failure.

The accused, Nitesh, an activist of the Hindu organization, was arrested by the police at Chikkamagaluru bus station on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old victim and the accused were said to be in love with each other. After an altercation, the girl had consumed poison on January 10. She breathed her last at a hospital in Mangaluru on January 14 without responding to treatment.

On her deathbed, the girl had reportedly named Nitesh as the culprit who abetted her death, and police registered a case against him following her death. Nitesh had gone missing ever since.

Kudremukh police, who were on his hunt, arrested him on Tuesday from the Chikkamagaluru bus stand.
