Chikkamagaluru: The Chikkamagaluru district administration has issued an order prohibiting entry to major tourist spots for six days, starting from December 22.
Tourist entry to Mullayyanagiri, Seetalayyanagiri, Manikyadhara, Galikere, and Chandradrona parvatha has been banned from December 22 to 27 in view of the Datta Jayanti celebrations. The order has been issued as a precautionary measure to prevent traffic jams due to tourist vehicles and cargo vehicles.
The prohibition on tourist entry has caused disappointment for those planning to celebrate Christmas in the region.
Datta Jayanti will be held from December 24-26 at Dattapeeth and more than 20 thousand devotees are expected to arrive here on the occasion.
