Chikkamagaluru: Family alleges medical negligence in death of unborn baby

Chikkamagaluru: Family members of a pregnant woman staged a protest in front of the maternity hospital in Chikkamagaluru alleging that the baby in her womb died due to medical negligence.
The pregnant woman Shilpa, hailing from Madike Hosally village in Sakharayapatna in Kadur taluk was admitted to the maternity hospital in Chikkamagaluru for delivery on Friday.
The doctors checked on her in the evening and advised a Caesarean section. Shilpa’s mother Indiramma said that the doctors told her the baby had died in her womb during the delivery in the early hours of Saturday.
The child died due to a lack of timely treatment by the doctors and staff. The family members urged the district surgeon Dr Mohan Kumar, who arrived at the protest site, to take strict action against erring medical officers.
Police were deployed at the maternity hospital.
