Chikkamagaluru: Groom escapes after officials arrive to stop wedding in violation of lockdown

Chikkamagaluru: In an incident reported from Karikallalli at Kadur taluk in the district here, a bridegroom reportedly left his bride behind and ran away from the stage upon seeing gram panchayat officials approaching the wedding venue.

While local authorities had granted permission for only ten people to attend the marriage, hundreds had gathered at the venue in violation of the lockdown norms.

On learning this, officials from the Jodihochihalli gram panchayat visited the venue. On seeing the approaching officials, the bridegroom left the bride on the stage and ran away.

Along with the bridegroom, many others standing nearby and even those eating the wedding meal ran away.
