Chikkamagaluru: Police enforce strict measures to protect popular tourist spots

As the monsoon season begins, there has been a surge in the number of people embarking on treks. However, alongside trekking, many tourists are indulging in recreational activities that harm the natural environment. In response, the police department has stepped up efforts to curb this behavior.

Popular destinations like Mullayanagiri, Datta Peetha, and Seethalayyanagiri in Chikkamagaluru have seen a weekend influx of visitors, creating a carnival-like atmosphere. Tourists are flocking in large numbers, and the police are struggling to manage the crowds.

Following government orders regarding tourist sites, the police have declared a high alert. Strict warnings have been issued to tourists visiting Mullayanagiri and Datta Peetha. The police have deployed a team comprising one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), one Circle Inspector (CPI), six Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs), and 60 other personnel.

To curb the disruptive activities of tourists, the police have banned the carrying of plastic and alcohol. Tourism department staff are conducting thorough checks on every vehicle entering these areas.
