Chikkamagaluru: Recognised as the cleanest municipality in the entire state, Tarikere town is proud of the 11 public toilets that have changed the image of the town.
What is so special about it, you may ask? Tarikere toilets have attained a facelift and have become fancy. The walls of toilets have been painted with art and have been maintained very clean.
Tarikere wasn’t like this before. It was when Mahantesh who was appointed as chief officer to the municipality about a year ago, that things changed. His plans received the support of engineers and civic workers, resulting in the execution of the plans. Now the toilets are maintained beautifully.
Various pictures were drawn on the toilet walls in order to drive away from the inferiority complex among the citizens while using public toilets.
Instances of people clicking photographs of the toilets have been observed.
Notably the town been honored with an Open Defecation-free Plus certificate.
