Tirthahalli: An unidentified girl was found on the seventh curve in the ghat road in the dense forests of Agumbe on Thursday night. The child was later returned to her parents after a few frantic hours.

At about 9:30 pm on Thursday night, a person in a car travelling to Shimoga from Mangaluru noticed a 5-year-old girl child crying near the road in Agumbe ghat. The driver took her to Agumbe police station and handed her over to the officers there.

The family of NRP Beenu was returning from a trip to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Due to exhaustion from travelling all travellers in the car had fallen asleep. The child fell off the vehicle’s rear door unnoticed by anyone.

When the vehicle had reached Koppa, one of the family members woke up and realised that the child is missing from the vehicle. Shocked, the family turned and came back the same road. When they reached the Agumbe forest gate they learned of their child being at the Agumbe police station.

The entire saga ended with the child and her family reuniting at the police station and the police warning the parents for their carelessness.
