Beijing: China has called for the immediate return of one of its soldiers, who was apprehended by Indian troops after he transgressed into the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control on Friday.

The capture of the Chinese soldier came amid the eight-month-long border standoff between the two armies in eastern Ladakh.

The China Military Online, an official website of the PLA, said that the soldier strayed into the Indian side of the LAC due to darkness and complicated geography here on early Friday morning.

After the Chinese side reported the incident to India, the Indian side responded saying it had found the missing soldier and would hand him back once it had received instructions from more senior officers, according to the news outlet.
