Chinese sailor medically evacuated: Indian Coast Gaurd

Mangaluru: Chinese sailor who suffered partially paralysis on board MV Tao Brave enroute Dahej from Australia was aided with timely medical evacuation by the district Coast Gaurd in coordination with local stakeholders.
The Coast Guard ship Kasturba Gandhi that was 26 nautical miles away from the merchant vessel was also put on standby to respond to any exigency. However its services were not required as the condition of the sailor was not severe.
On receipt of information from the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Mumbai at 2.45pm, the local agents established communication with Customs, port and local police.
The Chinese sailor Dong Xiaoxuan, second engineer on board the merchant vessel suffered symptoms of paralysis including subdued left facial expression, pendulous on left eyelid and corners of the mouth.
