Chitradurga: Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of his wife, whom he reported as having gone missing since December 25.
The arrested Narappa had lodged a missing complaint about his wife Suma at Bharamasagara police station.
Police became suspicious about Narappa when they found that he had purchased cement for stone-laying at his house recently. However, he fabricated a story saying that he wanted to cover a hole dug up by rodents.
During questioning, police found that neighbors had seen Suma at her house till December 25 night and they even found her footwear outside the residence.
Meanwhile, Suma’s father approached the police raising suspecting his son-in-law’s involvement in his daughter’s disappearance and revealed that he used to harass her for dowry.
Acting on his complaint the police searched Narappa’s residence and found that Suma’s body had been buried under the cot.
