Chitradurga: Three persons, part of a 15-member Tablighi Jamaat team from Chitradurga who returned to the district on May 5 after attending a congregation in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, May 9.

Notably four members of the troupe had contracted the infection in Ahmedabad and they underwent treatment at the designated hospital there. They were discharged post recovery and were placed under a 14-day observation in a quarantine facility.

Following this the team alongwith 18 others from Tumkuru arranged to return home on a private bus.

Since Gujarat has a high number of coronavirus cases, the returnees were kept in a quarantine facility and tests were conducted. Earlier on Friday, three members who had contracted the virus in Ahmedabad tested positive again.

Meanwhile the district officials have notified the Tumakuru district administration to test the 18 other passengers of the group along with the bus driver and conductor
