Chitradurga: Tyre burst causes serial accident; 4 killed, at least 10 injured

Chitradurga: At least 4 persons were killed, 10 others injured in a serial accident at Alur Cross on National Highway 47.

As per locals, a lorry carrying onions toppled as a result of a tyre burst, starting a chain of events that led to a serial crash. A car and 6 lorries were involved creating a huge pile-up at Alur village in Hiriyur here.

Four of those involved in the accident died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Ramesh (30), Pratap Hatti (29), Hanumappa Kalakappa (30), and Gurappa Hoogar (29). All were residents of Huyilagola. They were transporting the onions for sale in Bengaluru, sources said.

While at least 10 persons were injured in the road mishap and have been rushed to a hospital, sources added.

Chitradurga Superintendent of Police Radhika and other police officials inspected the accident spot.
