Mangaluru: A case of cholera has been confirmed at the Nellikaru Primary Health Centre in Moodbidri, Dakshina Kannada district. The affected person is currently recovering. So far, no cases of Monkeypox or Nipah have been reported in the district this year, but people should remain vigilant about their health, said Dr. H.R. Thimmaiah, the District Health Officer.
Speaking at a press conference, he said the infected individual had consumed food at a hotel in Udupi district. While there is no reason for panic, health centres across the district have been advised to stay alert. A meeting was held with the hotel owners’ association, instructing them to serve only clean, boiled, and filtered drinking water to customers. They were also urged to adopt precautionary health measures.
Dr. Thimmaiah further mentioned that a special meeting was conducted under the leadership of the Zilla Panchayat CEO, where all departments were instructed to ensure that overhead water tanks are cleaned once every three months.
