Chrisann Pereira

Mumbai: In a shocking twist, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested two persons for allegedly framing actor Chrisann Pereira in a narcotics case. One of the suspects arrested has revealed that he had framed the actress to exact revenge against her mother.

According to Mumbai Police, Chrisann Pereira was framed by one of the arrested accused, Anthony Paul.

According to media reports, Anthony Paul, a resident of Borivali, confessed that the actress’ mother had insulted him in public after he attempted to attack her dog, which was barking fiercely at him.

To avenge the insult, Paul, along with Rajesh Bhobate alias Ravi, tricked Chrisann into believing that they were sending her to the UAE for an overseas audition for a Hollywood web series. They gave her a memento (trophy) that had drugs hidden in it and asked her to deliver it to someone in Sharjah. The actor was arrested upon arrival in Sharjah.

Chrisann has worked in some of the noted films like ‘Sadak-2’ and ‘Batla House’. The actor is currently lodged in Sharjah Central Jail, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

During the interrogation, the duo allegedly confessed that they had employed the same tactic on Clinton Roderick, sending him to Dubai with a drug-laced cake. Roderick was apprehended at the Dubai airport.

The crime branch apprehended Paul on Monday and Ravi, a resident of Sindhudurg district, on Tuesday. They have reportedly sought the duo’s custody until May 2 for further investigation into various aspects of the case, including the origin of the drugs and if they have committed similar offenses with others.

The crime branch will be requesting the Centre and Indian Embassy in the UAE to intervene in Chrisann’s case as she appears to be falsely implicated.
