‘Christmas Souharda’ held at Valencia for communal harmony

Kankanady: A ‘Christmas Souharda’ programme was hosted by St Vincent Ferrer Church, Hebich Church Gorigudda and Christams Souharda Committee to spread love and peace among the different religions on Friday Dec 21st.

Most Rev Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Swami Ekagamyanandaji of Ramkrishna Math and head of Ramkrishna Mission Mangaluru, Mohammed Kunhi, manager of Shanthi Prakashana, Bunder, Mangaluru were the guests for the programme. The programme was started by the cutting of cake.

Goldin Bangera of Hebich Church welcomed the gathering and said that Christmas is the right time to spread joy, peace, and harmony.

Mohammed Kunhi said, “All are equal in this country; we need to live together and should spread love and peace. All the people should be treated equally and hatred should not be there in society. Only if we live together we can spread smiles.

Swami Ekagamyanandaji stressed on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda on religion and also Ramkrishna Mission, which is promoting Clean Mangaluru.

“This is a special day in my life after coming to Mangaluru because it’s the first time I am participating in Christmas celebration,” added the seer.

In his message Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha on the importance of living together as one and asked everyone to spread love and maintain peace. He also said that everyone should work on building the society with peace, love and harmony.

About 700 people took part in the programme which also included a dinner.
