Mangaluru:  A boy studying in 10th std dreams of becoming a director. And to achieve his aim he tirelessly worked through his summer vacation.

Kiran Nayak is originally from Bellary district. He is living with his family at Ashoknagar in Mangaluru. He is pursuing his education at Besant Kannada Medium School and since he started going to school he had a passion for cinema. Witnessing his passion for movies, his family members and neighbours started calling him ‘Star Kiran’.

When he joined high school, he realized that it was not possible to do a movie based on a good story at his age. Also his family is in poverty. His parents income was just enough for survival. Even then he did not give up his aim. As a result, he wrote, story, script, produced and directed a 12 minutes shor film titled ‘No. 1 Love Status Alla’ and amazed his teachers and fellow students.

Worked through the summer to earn

When Kiran was in 9th std, he came forward to create a short film. He did not have a paisa in his pocket then. Finally, during his summer vacation, he took some water bottles from a water bottles dealer near his house and sold them to shops at Kaup beach and shops at other beaches. In a period of a month, he earned 9,000 rupees as commission. With assistance from his friends, he created a short film with the budget of 15,000 rupees.

The storyline is based on how the youth get trapped in love by getting impressed by the status on social networks. In this way, Kiran tries to give a message to the youth. Kiran has also acted a small part in his short film.

“He first showed the movie to me. I told him that I will support his dream. I also suggested him to add a fight scene in his next film,” expresses Kiran’s father, Manju Nayak.

The cast of the movie includes Vaishnavi, Royson D’Souza, Sadananda, Jagga and others and all of the actors in this short film are new talents. His short film has garnered good response and Kiran is already getting offers to direct. The actress Vaishnavi too has received many offers.

“I have the satisfaction of fulfilling my dream”

Kiran’s father Manju Nauak is a driver and his mother Kamalabai is a worker. His sisters Kaveri and Rakshita are studying in 8th std and 9th std respectively. “I have the satisfaction of achieving my dream even under the immense strain of money. In future I am planning to direct a 90 minutes movie titled ‘Tande-Tai-Kanasu.’ I am writing its story and have created two songs for it,” explains the young talented director Kiran Nayak.
