Mangaluru: Along with the ticket problem being faced in city buses, the number of complaints arising from the passengers is on the rise and the district administration has taken the issue seriously. A meeting for all city bus owners has been called for on Saturday regarding the ticket issue and finding a solution for it.

The meeting will be attended by the Deputy commissioner, bus owners, RTO, Police commissioner and the issues be faced by the passengers will be deliberated with the bus owners. Besides, the complaints given by the public till now will be put forth before the bus owners during the meeting and their response will be noted.

The city buses in the city are getting digitalized by the day. On one side there is an app to know the movement of the buses while on the other, most of the buses have been fitted with GPS. A few buses are also providing tickets through tablets. With the aim to make sure that the bus conductor gives bus ticket to the passengers, a ticket checking system has been implemented on the city buses. But a few buses are still violating the rule. Hence, the district administration, police and RTO has considered the issue seriously.

Strict action

Mangaluru Regional Transport Office Officer Chandra Uppar spoke with ‘Udayavani’ about the issue and said, “Till now, in-charge transport officer was managing Mangaluru RTO. I took charge a month ago and I’ve considered the non-provision of bus tickets in the city buses seriously. Already strict action has been initiated against city buses violating the rule, and will get the action implemented with even more effect in the coming days,” he assured.

Stickler within buses disappear

The stickers which were earlier stuck within city buses by the city bus owners association asking the bus passengers to send any complaints regarding problems faced in the bus, non-provision of tickets, harsh horn, staff without uniform or any other complaint and suggestions through WhatsApp to 7996999977 have disappeared from some city buses.

Notify RTO

“Any problem faced in city buses including non-provision of bus tickets may be brought to the notice of RTO. Strict action is being taken against buses violating rules and to make it even more effective, a meeting has been called for city bus owners,” informed Chandra Uppara, RTO, Mangaluru
