City health inspectors to check restaurants, hotels

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation’s health inspectors will be conducting inspections of all mass gathering places such as restaurants, hotels, wedding halls and other institutions in the city for possible COVID-19 spread.

City’s municipal commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde convened a meeting along with mayor Diwakara and district surveillance officer Dr Naveen Chandra Kulal where the guidelines to prevent the contagion were discussed.

Ajith Hegde later said that health inspectors will be visiting premises to ensure that necessary precautions are in place to prevent the spread of the virus.

Dr Kulal said that everybody must follow the guidelines issued and hotels where foreign travellers check-in must be very cautious. All hospital staff have been advised to wear masks when visiting a patient.

Additionally, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh chairing a meeting of the National Animal Disease Emergency Planning Committee (NADEPC) said that precautionary steps to prevent the spread of bird flu have been taken in the district.

Vehicles entering the state are been checked at five places and no cases of the flu have been reported in the state so far.
