Class 9 student gangraped on her b’day; four arrested

Four persons have been arrested on charges of gangraping a Class 9 student here under the jurisdiction of Kamasamudra police limits.

The arrested identified as Anandakumar (25), Kantaraju (23), Praveen (21) and Venu (19) have been booked under the POCSO Act. The victim is being treated at the Government Hospital, Bangarapet.

The incident took place on the day the victim was celebrating her birthday. As per reports, the victim belongs to a poor family and was angered as her father refused to buy her new clothes for the special day. In a fit of anger, she went out of the house and met one of the perpetrators with whom she was reportedly acquainted.

The accused took her into a forested area luring her on the pretext of a birthday party where he and three of his friends gang-raped her. The victim was found in a bad state and was admitted to the hospital, where authorities informed the police.

On assurance of police, her parents lodged a complaint.
