Bengaluru: The Bruhut Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike in an attempt to put an end to establishments operating without license has issued closure notices to 57 rooftop pubs and bars in 7 days.

The fire and emergency service department has also issued closure notices to 70 establishments to conform safety rules in 15 days.

The inspection on Tuesday night penalised Rs.5 lakh on one of the establishment on Lavelle road and closed another establishment for violating norms and building by laws. A pub named Rasta was also fined Rs.5 lakh and was issued with a closure notice.

It is said that the senior health inspector, Sanjay, has been suspended for neglecting the duty. The sources also said that the above measures were taken to avoid any tragic accidents as some establishments violated the safety norms and possessed inflammable materials on the rooftops.
