Mangaluru: In the backdrop of district administration’s orders to close the Central Market with immediate effect, Congress MLA U T Khader on Wednesday said that an alternative solution must be found by holding a meeting with the stakeholders.
Citing the rising cases of coronavirus in the district, DC Dr K V Rajendra issued an order for closing the Central market and asked the traders to conduct business from the APMC yard at Baikampady.
Addressing reporters at a press conference here Khader pointed out that the traders had shifted back to Central Market on August 13 after city corporation withdrew its case. He also pointed out the problems faced by the traders while doing business at APMC yard after being ordered to shift there on April 4.
Further he said that if the government is concerned about the Covid-19 crisis, it should ramp up testing for traders and fish vendors at central market and Bunder respectively.
“This is not proper way to run the administration. An all-party meeting must be convened to find a solution,” he said
