Bengaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, on Tuesday July 10, declared ‘Grama Vastavya’, village stay program, in Malnad districts following the demise of a school girl in Shivamogga on July 9.
Amid the Assembly session, BJP MLA Araga Jnanendra on Monday informed about a demise of a girl because of drowning in a canal as a result of ceaseless downpours at Dudlimane.
Responding to this, Chief Minister announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the parents of the girl and furthermore said that he would remain in the town for few days to know the issues identified with the district. “I have guided the Deputy Commissioner to build security wall to stay away from any such incident in future” CM said.
It might be reviewed that Ashika (15), a class 9 student of government school in Dudlimane town close Thirthahalli, while crossing the canal on a footbridge alongside her mother lost her balance, slipped and washed away by the power of the water.
This disastrous episode happened on Monday, July 9. The body of the young lady has not yet been traced because of the unremitting rain.
