CM approves formation of three-member 7th pay commission

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has approved the formation of the 7th Pay Commission under the chairmanship of retired Chief Secretary K. Sudhakar Rao.
Retired IAS officer P.B. Ramamurthy and retired Director General of State Audit and Accounts Department Srikanth B. Vanahalli have been appointed members of the commission. The joint secretary of the infrastructure department, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, has been appointed the member-secretary of the commission.
Government sets up pay commissions once every five years for revising the salaries of its employees. The seventh pay commission has been mandated to make recommendations on the pay and various allowances and superannuation facilities.
The commission has been asked to submit its recommendations within a period of 6 months, keeping in mind the guidelines of the Karnataka Fiscal Responsibility Act 2022.
