CM Bommai to visit rain-affected DK, Kodagu dist on July 12

Chief Minister Basawaraj Bommai will be visiting the rain-affected Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu district on Tuesday, July 12.
Addressing presspersons Bommai said, “I will be visiting rain-affected Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, and Kawar district tomorrow and hold a review meeting with the concerned authorities.”
Heavy downpour continued in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district. The rains show no signs of letting up with the Indian Meteorological Department issuing a “Red Alert” for the next 3 days.
In Mangaluru city, rains abated from morning till noon on Sunday. Rains pick up in the afternoon.
The incessant rains continue to cause destruction in both Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. In Udupi, the Agumbe Ghat road has been closed due to a landslide. Similarly in Dakshina Kannada, a tree fell on to the road at the 8th turn of Charmadi Ghat, disrupting traffic for an hour. Traffic came to a standstill for an hour after a minor landslip on National Highway 75 at Donigal in Sakleshpur.
Low-lying areas have been waterlogged in the heavy downpour. As many as 17 houses have been damaged due to wind and rain in Udupi. A house was damaged after a compound wall collapsed in Harihara Pallattadka in Sulya taluk of Dakshina Kannada.
