Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is still directionless to handover the charge of state home ministry to senior Congress leader, Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister, State Minister for Environment and Forest, B Ramanath Rai after some senior Congress party members and leaders of opposition, BJP objected the move of Siddaramaiah to announce Rai as next state home minister.
According to the reports, earlier, Siddaramaiah asked Rai to take the responsibility of the state home ministry in addition to his current position as state minister for environment and forest minister. Rai positively responded to the chief minister on the matter on Wednesday to become the next home minister of Karnataka.
However, BJP leaders including leader of opposition in legislative assembly, Jagadeesh Shetter criticized the move of the government and said as Dakshina Kannada District Incharge Minister, Rai failed to maintain peace and security in his own constituency and Dakshina Kannada even if communal clashes have been haunting the region for the last two to three months. As a home minister of Karnataka, Rai unable to work with responsibility as he failed to control communal violence in Dakshina Kannada as district incharge minister, Shetter added.
