Mangaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to attend the state-level Congress convention at Adyar, Mangaluru, on February 17, along with participating in the Tiruvailu Kambala event at Vamanjoor.

To ensure safety and security, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal has declared a temporary red zone from 8 am to 8 pm on February 17. This zone encompasses a five-kilometer radius around the premises of Sahyadri College in Adyar and the Tiruvailu Kambala venue at Vamanjoor. During this period, the flying of any type of drone within these areas is strictly prohibited.

Traffic advisory:

In anticipation of the influx of state leaders and party workers for the Congress convention, traffic modifications have also been announced. The convention, to be held on Sahyadri College ground off the Padil-Bantwal section of National Highway 73, is expected to cause congestion along the highway.

To mitigate traffic issues and ensure public safety, the following temporary changes in heavy vehicle traffic routes have been implemented:

  • Heavy vehicles traveling from Udupi towards Mangaluru city and onwards to BC Road/Bangalore will divert via Nanthoor-Pumpwell-Thokkottu-Mudipu-Melkar.
  • Heavy vehicles heading towards Mangaluru from Bengaluru/BC Road side will be rerouted through Melkar-Mudipu-Thokkottu-Pumpwell.

These traffic modifications will be effective from 9:00 am on February 17 until the conclusion of the event.

Parking arrangements:

  • Dignitaries and public motorcycles from the Bantwal side will park at Kamath Maidan.
  • Buses arriving from the Bantwal side will drop activists near Kamath Maidan, proceed to Kannur for a U-turn, and park at Motishyam/Sha Maidan.
  • Dignitaries’ cars from the Mangaluru side will park at Adyar Garden.
