CM Siddaramaiah to lead Assembly polls; Parameshwara retains post of KPCC President

Bengaluru/New Delhi: The Congress high command has decided that Karnataka would face the upcoming Assembly elections under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Further, as per a decision from the party high command in New Delhi, state Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara would continue as the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). However, AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Vice President Rahul Gandhi and other leaders have asked Dr Parameshwara to step-down from the post of Home Minister immediately.
Meanwhile, the party high command has appointed SR Patil and Dinesh Gundurao as executive party presidents for North and South Karnataka respectively. Party leader DK Shivkumar has been assigned to lead the assembly election campaign.
