Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday launched a platform, ‘Akanksha,’ to streamline Corporate Social Responsibility funding for developmental programmes in the State.

The portal – akanksha.karnataka.gov.in – was developed in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Companies, who by law are mandated to spend 2 per cent of their 3-year net profits on welfare activities, can now check the website and opt to fund the programme of their choice.

The portal will also aid NGOs involved in various social and economic development activities to garner funds from companies.

“The portal will serve a bridge between donors and the government and will ensure that the government is able to gain more funds for backward areas of the State,” Yediyurappa said.
