CM Yediyurappa, PM Modi reacting to migrants’ issue in inhumane way: Siddu

Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has alleged that CM BS Yediyurappa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are reacting to migrants’ problems in an inhumane way.
“There is lot of confusion among people, especially migrants, due to erratic imposition and lifting of lockdown without clear guidelines. The way PM Modi and BS Yediyurappa are reacting to migrants’ issue is inhumane,” tweeted Siddaramaiah.
“Both PM and CM Yediyurappa does not have statistics of the migrant population both within our state and outside. National Congress had submitted a memorandum to Chief Secretary of Karnataka to make proper arrangements for the movement of migrants,” he added.
He further added, “State government had fixed bus fare for migrants who wanted to go back. Only after KPCC President DK Shivakumar offered Rs 1 Crore CM of Karnataka announced free bus travel. A similar thing has happened with Railways. Central government has asked the State government to fund for travel now.”
“Railways fall under Union list and the budget is made by Central govt.
PM directing state govt to fund 15% is astonishing. Even 85% which Central government claims to fund is notional and not real. This notional subsidy was given even before COVID 19.” he informed.
He further asked, “More than Rs 35,000 Cr is collected under PM Cares fund. But what is the status of its spending? PM Modi is hiding the account of PM Cares instead of making it transparent. Government should have used this fund to compensate ticket fare for migrants.”
