Coast guard helpline 1554 started

Panambur: Similar to the toll-free helpline for police and ambulance being 100 and 108 respectvely, the Indian Coast Guard has started its own helpline with the number 1554.
With the recent mysterious disappearance of the deep sea trawler and also the tragedy at Karwar, the coast guard has started the helpline to prevent any such incidents in the future.
The helpline number can be used during an emergency sea search and for recue during emergencies, said Surendra Singh Dasila, DIG, Coast Guard Commander.
