Coast guard rescue 8 crew members of fishing vessel off Karwar coast

Karwar: Indian Coast Guard personnel rescued eight crew members of a fishing vessel ‘IFB Shri Durga’ after it developed engine problems and started drifting dangerously off Karwar coast here.

Assistance was sought from the coast guard following which a vessel C-446 was diverted to the spot.

Upon arrival at the datum, the technical team of C-446 assessed the defect and concluded that the towing assistance will be required to tow the boat to safety.

Subsequently, they requested another fishing boat, IFB Gurujyothi in the vicinity for towing assistance.

The fishing boat was later towed to Karwar harbor.
