Coconut tree claims life of two in separate incidents

Mangaluru: A case has been registered against two persons after an individual fell to his death from the coconut tree that belonged to the accused in Mulki. The deceased is identified as Prasad. He fell down from the coconut tree while he was plucking coconuts for the accused and sustained grievous injuries which lead to his death.
A case of negligence has been registered by Mulki police against Imtiyaz Ahmed and Sudhir, after they failed to admit the injured Prasad to the hospital and instead deposited him at his house.
In another freak accident near Malpe, a woman died after sustaining grievous injuries, when a coconut leaf fell on her while she was travelling with her son on a two-wheeler. The injured woman was immediately shifted to a hospital where she failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to her injuries. The deceased has been identified as Vasanti (40) from Gujjarbettu.
The deceased was travelling on a scooter with her son to Garadimaja. As they reached a farm near Gujjarbetta Palli, a coconut tree leaf fell on the scooter. Vasanti sustained serious injuries from which she never recovered. A case has been registered in Malpe police station.
