College student dies after attempting suicide over denial of mobile in Shivamogga

Shivamogga: A 20-year-old college student, Dhanushree, succumbed on Thursday, December 26, after attempting suicide earlier this week in Haranahalli, Shivamogga district.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when Dhanushree returned home from college. Upset over her mother’s instructions to avoid using her mobile phone and watching TV.
She consumed poison in an apparent suicide attempt.
Initially treated at Ayanooru Government Hospital, she was later shifted to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga for advanced care. Despite medical efforts, she could not be saved.
A case has been registered at Kumsi police station, and further investigation is underway.
