Bengaluru: As a precautionary measure, all Universities belonging to the Department of Higher Education and Colleges under the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education will remain shut until February 16, the Minister for Higher Education Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan has said on Friday.

The minister clarified that classes continue in online mode. Also, the examinations scheduled will be held as planned, he said.

This closure is applicable for government, aided, unaided degree colleges, diploma, and engineering colleges in the state, Minister stated.

The schools and colleges in the state had been closed from February 9 to February 11 due to the violence and tense atmosphere that prevailed after the Hijab row erupted in several parts of the state. The government had announced the resumption of High school classes from February 14 and had deferred the decision on opening colleges for a later date.
