Mangaluru: Shiradi Ghat which connects Mangaluru with Bengaluru will opened for all types of vehicles as per the decision taken by the district administration of Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Hassan, from Thursday, November 15th.
DK deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil informed reporters that all vehicles including heavy vehicles will be allowed on Shiradi Ghat from Thursday 6 am onwards.
Shiradi Ghat road was closed from August following multiple landslides at different locations along the route. The landslides were cleared and the stretch was opened for light motor vehicles passage on Sept 5th. Following an inspection, the objection on the passage of multi-axle buses along the stretch was revoked Oct 3rd. But the ban on passage of commercial heavy vehicles remained. Now however, the district administrations of both the districts have decided to allow the passage of commercial heavy vehicles from Nov 15th onwards.
