Commonwealth Powerlifting: Three from coastal K’taka win medals for India

Kundapura: Three athletes from Coastal Karnataka representing India won medals at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship being held in Auckland, New Zealand.

The medallists are Satich Kharvi of Kundapura, Pratiksha Nayak of Udupi, and Vikram Narayan Prabhu of Kumta.

Vikram Prabhu, a grocer from Kumta, won the gold in the bench press competitions in the 93 kg category.

Satish Kharvi won two medals in the Master one 66 kg category — a gold in the classic bench press and a silver in the equipped bench press competitions.

Pratiksha Nayak won the gold in the 83 kg junior category bench press competition. She is a student of Dr. G Shankar Government Women’s First Grade College & PG Study Centre, Ajjarkadu in Udupi.
