Complaint against MP Pragya Thakur: Shivamogga Police serve notice to businessman to appear in person

Shivamogga: The Kote police have issued a notice to a businessman in Delhi who had sent an online complaint against MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur for her provocative speech during the conference of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike here.

Speaking at the Hindu Jagarana Vedike’s South Region annual convention at Shivamogga in Karnataka on Sunday, the BJP MP from Bhopal told her audience to give a befitting reply to anyone who ”infiltrates our house”.

”Keep weapons in your homes, if nothing else, at least knives used to cut vegetables, sharp…Don’t know what situation will arise when… Everyone has the right to self-protection. If someone infiltrates our house and attacks us, giving a befitting reply is our right,” she had said.

Tehseen Poonawala, a Delhi-based businessman, had written to the Shivamogga SP Mithun Kumar via an email urging him to register a case against Pragya Thakur for her “hate speech.”

The businessman, in another tweet, Shared the notice he had received from the Kote Police Station, Shivamogga.

Police have sent a notice to the businessman to physically appear at the Kote Police Station. “Since the information has been received in the Digital format, the authenticity of the person sending it has to be verified. Also, as per Lalitha Kumari judgement of the honorable Supreme Court, in order to check the veracity of the information received, and in order to conduct a preliminary enquiry and /or for making an FIR under Section 154 of crpc, you are requested to be present me on 28/12/2022 at 11 am at Kore police station Shivamogga,” the notice from the Kote Police Sub Inspector said.
