Complete Smart City works by March: Minister Byrathi Basavaraj to officials in Mangaluru

Mangalore: Officials have been directed to complete smart city project works already underway in Mangaluru and other cities across the state by the end of March, Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj said on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the various projects undertaken by the Mangaluru City Corporation, MUDA, Smart City, and KUIDFC.

Several complaints have been received about the delay in the construction projects in city, including Smart City works. Hence, concerned officials have been instructed to speed up the work, the minister said.

March deadline for Smart City works

Although the central government has instructed to complete the Smart City works by May 2022, the state government has emphasized the completion by March 2022, he said.

The minister also said that criminal cases would be slapped on contractors for poor substandard work.
