Compol inaugurates Navaratri Utsav at Gokarnanatheswara Temple

Mangaluru: The Navaratri Utsav and Dasara celebrations were inaugurated by police commissioner Dr| Harsha P S at Kudroli Gokarnanatheswara Temple on Sunday, September 29.

“Mangaluru Dasara is celebrated in unique way and elaborate arrangement have been made for the smooth functioning of Dasara celebrations,” said Dr|Harsha.

Following the inauguration, Sharada idol was taken in a procession in grand manner with bands and Huli Vesha leading the procession and later installed by conducting various rituals. various incarnations of Navadurgas namely, Adhi Shakthi, Shaila Putri, Bhramacharini, Chandraganta, Kooshmandini, Skandamath, Kathyayini, Mahagowri and Siddidhatri were also installed.

The 10-day long Navatri Utsav will involve various rituals and also cultural events.

Dasara procession

The Dasara procession will be carried out on October 8 and the idol will be immersed in Kudroli lake on October 9. Interestingly, this time the procession sequence has been changed, with Sharada idol along with Navadurga,  will lead the procession followed by other tableaux.
