Belagavi: In a commendable act, Congress leader and Yemakanmardi constituency MLA Satish Jarkiholi has permitted use of his farmhouse in Hukkeri taluk as quarantine centre for migrants arriving in the district.

The district administration was facing a burdensome task of quarantining the migrants, mostly returnees from Mumbai due to lack of a proper facility here. Moreover, people of Yemakanmardi constituency were not ready to let migrant workers from Mumbai to enter the constituency as Mumbai is one of the COVID-19 hotspots in the country.

In this backdrop, Jarkiholi permitted to quarantine the migrants at his farmhouse instead of some government building.

Jarkiholi has not only housed these migrants but is also providing food to them at his expense. Around 1000 migrant workers in various quarantine centres are being fed by Jarkiholi it is said.
