Bengaluru: In a bid to promote the artistry of different districts, the Government of Karnataka has set up the ‘Karnataka Pavilion’ at the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF) being held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi.
T. B. Jayachandra, Special Representative of the State Government in Delhi, inaugurated the ‘Karnataka Pavilion’, spread over 703 square meters of space.
“Like every year, this time too ‘Karnataka Pavilion’ has been built in a way that attracts everyone’s attention. All necessary assistance will be given to build the ‘Karnataka Pavilion’ on a larger scale in the coming years,” Jayachandra said after inaugurating the Karnataka Pavilion at IITF on Tuesday.
The 42nd edition of IITF will run up to November 27 this year on the theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – Unity through Business’.
The India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) organizes this trade fair annually. The theme of the fair, however, is different every year. This year emphasis is placed on the importance of inter-connectivity, cooperation and coordination in business to achieve sustainable growth and progress.
As for ‘Karnataka Pavilion’, artisans from different districts of the state are displaying their unique products here.
Jayachandra visited around 50 different types of stalls in the Pavilion, where he learnt about products on display and the artisans. B K Sivakumar, Managing Director of Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Center (VTPC), the mandated nodal agency for promotion of international trade from the State of Karnataka explained about the exhibition.
Under the aegis of the Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Karnataka, VTPC has been actively participating in this fair since its inception.
Imkongla Jamir, Resident Commissioner of the Karnataka Government in Delhi, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.
At this fair, product manufacturers meet and consult each other and get information about the opportunities for market expansion of their products in the country and abroad.
This prestigious fair serves as an ideal platform to expand trade within and across the borders of the country through the exchange of information on trade, capital investment, technology and innovations.
About 50 stalls are set up at Karnataka Pavilion this year with all participating artisans and industrialists allotted free stalls. Various Corporations and Boards of the State also participate in the fair.
The fair is an ideal platform to showcase the diverse range of products manufactured in India and instill new confidence and vitality in the domestic economy. Around 3,500 stalls from across the country are spread over an area of 1.10 lakh square meters at Pragati Maidan.
A total of 28 states and union territories are participating this year with 13 countries including Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Oman, Egypt, Nepal, Thailand, Iran and UAE part of the fair.
As in the previous editions, each state’s day celebration and seminar would be held at the fair.
The fair is also a major tourist attraction as all states and union territories actively participate every year. Exhibitors market their industrial products, handicrafts and other popular products manufactured in their respective states.
