Cong submits complaint to Governor alleging non-functional govt in K’taka

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Congress party on Thursday alleged that the Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa led state government’s functioning has come to a standstill as all the party ministers are assigned for election campaigning. The party has also submitted a note to the Governor Vajubhai Vala with this regard.
Speaking on the issue Congress leader Prakash Rathore said, “Congress has filed a complaint to the office of Governor against the state government claiming that almost all the ministers are busy in campaigning in favour of their candidates instead of being in office and looking into the issues of their respective areas.”
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court upheld K R Ramesh Kumar’s decision to disqualify 17 rebel Congress-JD(S) MLAs under the anti-defection law and said that they can contest the upcoming by-elections in the state. Assembly by-polls to the 15 assembly seats in Karnataka are scheduled to be held on December 5 from 7 am to 6 pm.
The Congress also urged the Governor to take strict action against Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for Hulimavu Lake breach.
“Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Deputy Mayor Ram Mohanraj had ordered some of the BBMP officers to demolish the sidewall of the Hulimavu lake, but it led to the flooding of about 2000 houses in the area,” he added.
A large number of houses were flooded in Bengaluru’s Hulimavu as water from a lake flooded the area on Sunday after its embankment was damaged, officials said.
