Congress-BJP workers fight; Police resort to lathi-charge

Udupi: The police were compelled to resort to lathi-charge in order to prevent the BJP and Congress workers from indulging in heated arguments and fighting on Monday, September 10th.

According to the available information, the congress and BJP workers refused to pay heed to the requests from police to maintain peace. Instead they continued with the heated arguments regarding Bharath Bandh and were about to fight. Consequently, superintendent of police Lakshman Nimbargi ordered lathi-charge to disperse them.

The incident took place at Bannanje here near superintendent of police office. There is also a rumour that the local BJP leader Prabhakar Poojary was injured in the incident
