Hassan: Bagur Manje Gowda, who contested from the Congress in Holenarsipur, has stated that the alliance of the Congress with the JD(S) will be “murder of Congress workers” in Hassan district. He said that the decision was “highly disappointing” and felt that senior leaders of the party should have considered other factors while arriving at the decision. “It is better to fight sitting in the opposition rather than having an alliance to form the government in the present situation,” he added.
When asked about his defeat in the elections, Gowda said that the JD(S) candidate in the constituency had promised to build temples in 277 villages and had laid foundations for that, just before the elections. In the fear that the JD(S) would stop the construction if it is not elected, the people had voted for the JD(S) candidate. He also said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had agreed to come to the constituency and campaign for him, but had not done so.
