Mangaluru: The Congress election manifesto for Dakshina Kannada district was released by former minister and Congress in-charge for Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency B Ramanath Rai.
The election manifesto made of around 30 promises includes desalination of seawater, round-the-clock drinking water provision, withdrawal of the decision privatizing Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), demerging of Vijaya Bank from the Bank of Baroda, flyover construction near Nanthoor circle, construction of government medical college in Mangaluru and many other promises.
Speaking after releasing the party election manifesto Mr Rai said that maximum priority will be given to delivering the promises stated in the manifesto.
“People should support our coalition candidate Mithun Rai in the election and allow him to bring developmental works for Dakshina Kannada district,” he added.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) vice president Prof Radhakrishna called Narendra Modi and Amit Shah the most hypocritical leaders among leaders and said, “Modi followed dictatorial policy throughout his regime. He denies to conduct a single press conference as he does not like to answer to others. Both, Modi and Shah provoke people,” he said.
Demerging decision possible
Responding to a query on if demerging Vijaya Bank is possible, Prof Radhakrishna explained that the fiscal policy of the government is always a continuous process and the merging decision can be revoked.
“Since Vijaya Bank is a profit-making bank, merger is unacceptable. Hence the decision to demerge it can be taken,” he informed.
