Bengaluru: An implied list of 131 Congress contender for the May 12 Karnataka Assembly elections sent leaders into a tiff on Tuesday even as gathering’s big bosses proceeded with its considerations on finalising the contestants.
As Congress Screening Committee headed by Madhusudhan Mistry was occupied with concluding the contender for the upcoming elections, a list of 131 names, including that of senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge from Chittapur and Ranjita, mother of AICC online networking head Ramya, was sent to WhatsApp groups of media persons.
Several ticket aspirants who had accumulated at the Congress’ war room on Gurudwara Rakabganj Road here, began pleading media persons to share the list and began dialing their leaders to share the news.
In spite of the fact that the list was not discharged on the official letter head of the Congress, it carried the signature of Oscar Fernandes, an individual from the Central Election Committee.
Madhu Yaskhi Goud, AICC secretary in charge Karnataka clarified at the setting that it was a fake list and Central Election Committee headed by Congress president Rahul Gandhi was yet to hold its meeting.
He claimed that BJP IT Cell was behind this episode and the Congress will lodge a police complaint against the same.
