Congress government’s inaction on namaz case disrupting harmony:MLA Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty

Mangaluru City North MLA Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty has criticized the Congress government for allegedly undermining social harmony by filing a “B Report” without investigating a case involving people performing Namaz on the street, causing public obstruction.
Speaking at a press conference in Mangaluru on Friday, Dr. Shetty accused the Congress of fostering division through appeasement policies. He warned that allowing Namaz on busy roads without any permissions could set a precedent for others to hold prayers and events on streets without necessary approvals, disrupting public order.
“Congress has always engaged in appeasement. Is it right to perform Namaz in crowded, traffic-heavy areas? When questioned, they retort about Yakshagana and other events, which are conducted with proper permissions. Every community’s festivals are held once a year with permits. This is a different matter altogether. Suddenly coming to the street for Namaz, withdrawing cases without proper investigation, and sending the officer who filed the case on leave—is this correct? This has happened due to political pressure,” Shetty said.
Dr. Shetty further alleged that there was no proper investigation or documentation. No video was sent for forensic analysis, demonstrating an extreme level of appeasement. He suggested that this approach was driven by the belief that such actions would garner votes from those who performed Namaz. “If questioned, cases are filed against them. A case was filed against VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell. Should we remain silent and watch? This gives others the chance to follow suit without needing permission from the police station. This mindset has spread due to government inaction, leading to administrative failure,” he added.
Dr. Shetty also criticized the government for withdrawing the case and filing a B Report, stating that the administration is ineffective and influenced by political pressures. I support Sharan Pumpwell. “The CM, Home Minister, and officials are working under pressure and not according to the Constitution or laws. There is fixing everywhere,” he concluded.
